VP of Platform Engineering — TicketSauce
San Diego, CA (remote) • August 2022–present
- Optimized CI pipeline time for a project by over 40% by building out AWS Docker registries and switching all pipeline jobs to custom base images with dependencies pre-scanned and pre-installed.
- Eliminated 5hrs+ of meetings per week for the whole team by building a platform for sending weekly bulletin emails with an easy, collaborative (git) process for updating, creating, and sending content.
- Created and delivered over 12 “mini-courses” on various technical topics of team interest, ranging from interesting RFCs to new feature announcements, helping the whole team level up.
- Developed a 5-step comprehensive peer-review process template building on existing team git practices and leveraging the features of GitLab. With this process in place, we went from reviewing X items per week, to Y.
- Deployed a complete Datadog observability experience with over 100 monitors, alarms, and custom dashboards (fully integrated with AWS) feeding information to the development & product teams 24/7/365.
- Architected and completed a migration of 20+ servers and databases from Rackspace to AWS. Also upgraded the software to run on Docker and built out custom infrastructure to support business needs during the migration.
- Designed, planned, and implemented a custom Redis-based caching layer with support for over 50 unique operations, adding type-safety, read/write connection roles, command queueing, and more.

- Increased units processed and ready for sale from zero to nearly 200/wk by planning and leading a reboot of the entire company tech stack.
- Restarted a failing product by automating, organizing, and fixing infrastructure, code rot, and manual processes that were no longer supported by vendors.
- Taught & implemented 10 industry-standard Agile/DevOps best practices to a team with no prior subject matter experience.
- Increased deployment frequency by 50% quarter-over-quarter by architecting and implementing a fully-automated CI/CD pipeline.
